Process Operator
Typical Job Description (jobs and processes vary across our sites)
• Operating machinery to manufacture polythene packaging products for industrial, agricultural, retail, NHS and local authority use
• Maximising output at the highest possible quality
• Monitoring, measuring and recording process efficiency
• Maintaining a safe and tidy working environment
• Troubleshooting problems and adjusting machine settings
• Working in a team
• Packing and labelling of products
Key Processes
• Extrusion: Producing blown polythene film from granular polymer
• Print: Printing onto the film from simple 1 colour to complex 8 colour
• Conversion: Converting film into bags and other applications
• Recycling: Recycling post use polythene to manufacture new products
Entry Level / Competences and Knowledge
• Willingness to work shifts
• Accuracy, numeracy, literacy
• Ability to work in a team
• Good understanding of health and safety in a factory
• Good attendance record and be physically fit
• No formal qualifications required but NVQ 2 or GCSE’s preferred
Pay and Conditions
• Pay rates are set at local site level but basic pay usually starts at around £16k
• Shift allowance, overtime, and operational bonuses can boost this considerably
• Shift patterns are usually 12 hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off)
• Employees can join the Group Personal Pension Plan and receive employer contributions / free life assurance cover
• All employees are included in the Profit Sharing Scheme
• Employees can participate in regular Save as You Earn Share Option Schemes
• Holidays are decided at local site level and all arrangements exceed legal minimums
• Working in a factory environment which may have hygiene requirements
