Green Sack proves perfect to a tee
Up to 50,000 of the ultra-green refuse sacks are being supplied for use at the tournament - which runs from the 1st to 3rd October at The Celtic Manor Resort in Newport - by Cardiff-based distributor of cleaning and hygiene products, Newhall Janitorial.
“Like many high-profile events, the Ryder Cup recognises the need to make more sustainable product choices,” explains Kim Jones, Sales Director at bpi.recycled products. “We believe this is the reason why the organisers chose to use the Green Sack, the refuse sack of choice for this year’s competition.
“Not only are these refuse sacks made from 100% recycled polythene helping to conserve resources and divert waste from landfill, but they’re produced from UK waste reprocessed at UK facilities” she continues. “
“This gives them a carbon footprint up to a third lower than most other 100% recycled refuse sacks which are typically manufactured in the Far East – the waste being shipped there and reprocessed before the finished product is shipped back resulting in massive product miles.”
Aside from these impressive environmental credentials, the Green Sack® range also offers a number of attractive functional benefits. In particular, bpi.recycled products employs a large percentage of agricultural polythene waste such as used silage balewrap and greenhouse films in the production of the Green Sack, using advanced technology to remanufacture this material in a way that retains its original strength. The result is refuse sacks able to offer exceptional durability and tear resistance – and from a thinner thickness of film.
The manufacturer has also built on these benefits by offering the product in a handy and value adding dispenser, by introducing a pack format known as ‘The Cube’ which has been designed specifically for wholesale outlets and by extending the range to include not only refuse sacks but clinical waste sacks and bags for recycling schemes.
Commenting on the use of the Green Sack® range at the Ryder Cup, Ian Hall, Managing Director from Newhall Janitorial, added: “As one of South Wales’ leading distributors of cleaning and hygiene products, Newhall Janitorial already supplies a number of high-profile customers across the region. However we’re still elated to be awarded the Ryder Cup order.
“To be asked to supply such a well known and widely respected event is a real honour not to mention a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional of service, to our belief in the highest standards of quality and to our ability to offer some of the best products in the business – the Green Sack included.”
